The two leaders that I identify to have a significant influence on my personal and professional philosophies of leadership include Jesus of Nazareth and Mother Teresa. Although these two leaders lived and served during different periods and in completely different missions, their unwavering commitment to promoting humanity and servant leadership remains of huge influence to my understanding of life, the human condition and progress. On one hand, Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ is a central figure of Christianity who existed during the first-century as a religious leader and Jewish preacher. Much of the information I have obtained about Jesus Christ are presented in the Gospels as inscribed in the New Testament, and therefore, my interactions with this Christian leader was primarily through reading and meditating on the holy scripture. As a true leader, Jesus Christ practiced servant leadership as one of the most effective means through which to appeal to his followers and other converts (Moore 111). For example, the ultimate decision by Jesus to wash the feet of his disciples during the last supper indicates that he was a caring, accommodative and humble leader who believed in attending to the needs of his followers and inspiring them to become key participants in identifying and solving problems (Kama 1)Reflection On Leadership Attributes Of Jesus Christ Essay Paper. Combined, these scriptural teachings on the Christ models of leadership have been highly instrumental in encouraging and preparing me to become a true leader, and to enhance my leadership skills in both professional and personal accounts.

The life and leadership of Mother Teresa also has significant influence on my leadership styles and approaches. One of the defining aspects of Mother Teresa’s leadership is her genuine commitment to helping the poor and vulnerable members of the society (the sick, the hungry, prisoners) through charity and service to humanity (Howell 139). Similar to Jesus Christ, Mother Teresa stood out as a leader with a vision and mission, focused on developing key relationships, inspiring others, and developing the organization (Missionaries of Charity) whilst reinforcing performance. The influence of this leader on my own leadership philosophy is largely informed by the manner in which she stood out as an adaptive leader, servant leader, teacher leader, charismatic leader and transformative leader who believed in promoting access to education, better health, improved social welfare, and other humanitarian interventions (Davies 1). I truly identify with the two leaders since they are good examples of servant and transformative leadership. This has added significant value to my life since I have made a strong commitment to become a good and effective leader through developing and applying some of the leadership qualities and skills they exhibited.
