The decision by Jesus to choose the disciples to be with Him is demonstration of His desire for an intimate relationship with His followers. As Christians, we are called upon to nurture an intimate relationship with Jesus through prayer.

Philosophy of Bible Study for Women
Bible study for women holds immense value in equipping them to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word, deepen their relationship with Him, and live out their faith in impactful ways. My philosophy of Bible study for women centers on three key principles. These are engagement, interpretation, and application. On engagement Bible needs to be an active and participatory process with women being encouraged to engage with the scriptures through means such as reading of the bible, its reflection, discussion, and prayer. In addition to this, it also involves immersing self in the text whereby questions are asked and these are accompanied by seeking a deeper understanding of the text. Active engagement in this has the benefit of fostering a personal connection with God.

On the second principle of interpretation, it is important for one to possess a sound biblical interpretation capability. It is important that women approach the scriptures with a lot of humility whereby they are called upon to recognize the need for the Holy Spirit to offer them the necessary guidance. Having an innate understanding of the historical and cultural context of the scriptures as well as the literary genres and also the original meanings aid a lot in guiding the interpretation of the message of scripture. The third principle, application emphasizes on the need for Bible study to remain theoretical and intended for ultimate transformation and application. Women are called upon to reflect on the way the word of God intersects with their lives and also challenges their beliefs. The application of this third principle involves measures such as aligning one’s thoughts, attitudes, and actions with the truth of Scripture by, among other things, allowing it to shape character.
