The inspiration piece is a photograph of a multitier waterfall. It was photographed by James Mirakian in Asia. It shows the power of water as it erodes stone to create a path. It shows that although water is soft, persistent action allows it to erode hard rocks thereby creating a path through which to flow. It is notable that water selects the path of least resistance and would meander as it erodes the weakest parts of the rocks.

The inspirational piece inspires my photograph that presents a water dam harnessing the power of water to generate hydroelectric power. The inspiration comes from the idea that while water is willful in creating its own path through which to flow, it is powerful and that power can be harnessed to generate electricity. Hydroelectric power generation is perhaps the most significant and recognizable technology that humans have applied in harnessing the power of water.

The two photographs share similarities as they focus on the flow of water. However, they have significant differences. The inspiration piece focuses on the destructive power of water as it creates a path through hard rocks. There are no manmade features within the photo. Rather, it shows what occurs naturally in nature. On the other hand, the inspired photograph shows the power of water being collected in the dam and harnessed through the hydroelectric power generation. This shows how humans leverage technological capabilities to harness the massive potential power contained in flowing water, and turning that potential into useful electric power for other activities.

The two pieces are presented in the same medium as full color glossy photographs. The glossy nature of the photographs reflects light thereby creating a shiny finish. The glossy finish enhances the color and contrasts in the photograph. This creates a more vibrant image with deeper colors and increased sharpness (Samara, 2020)Art Creation And Reflection Of Photography/Cinema Discussion.

The inspiration and inspired photographs have comparable design elements. First, the two have zigzagging straight lines that follow the water flow to imply movement/action and show energy. The lines connect the water flow. Second, the two have comparable shapes. The inspiring photograph has organic shows organic shapes that indicate the unpredictability of nature. On other hand, the inspired photograph shows geometric shapes that indicate human construction. Third, the inspiring photograph has an organic form created by nature while the inspired photograph has regular/geometric forms created by humans. Fourth, the two photographs have an ever changing texture with flowing water acting as the dominant feature. The light accentuates the texture to show power and speed of flowing water. Fifth, the two photographs presents the color of flowing water. However, the inspiring photograph has the color of nature while the inspired photograph has the color of human construction. Finally, the two photographs have some converging lines in the background to give indication of depth. There is an indication of depth as the flowing water loses detail towards the background (Webb, 2020).
