Improved Clinical outcomes; EHRs have enhanced clinical outcomes by enhancing quality of care and patient safety. EHRs enhance the quality of care as they allow easy storage and retrieval of accurate patient data which reduces medical errors. Upadhyay & Hu (2022) suggests that implementation of EHRs has shown significant reduction in hospital readmissions. EHRs enhance patient safety, as integration of alerts and reminders in systems allows clinicians notice critical lab values and medication errors. In addition, EHRs allow timely access of patient data which is important for ensuring patient safety.	Increased costs; EHRs are require heavy capital during its implementation stage. Improved efficiency; EHRs enhance efficiency as they improve on clinical workflows and laboratory turnaround time. In addition, EHRs enhance administrative tasks for nurses as it allows quick retrieval of information.	Disruption of workflows; Transition to EHRs disrupts clinical workflows as medical staffs have to learn the new system. This impacts productivity which could potentially result to loss of revenues.
Improved organizational outcomes; EHRs improve on clinical workflows, efficiency and workload which notably enhances organizational outcomes. According to Upadhyay & Hu (2022), enhanced efficiency and reduced workload has a positive impact on organizational productivity and performance as nurses are satisfied with their jobs.	Privacy concerns; EHRs are associated with increase privacy violation. Tsai et al. (2020) claims, with the increase of information sharing between, healthcare professionals, patient data is susceptible to cyber security threats which poses a great risk on patient privacy. Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records

The objectives I chose for Stage 3 meaningful use of EHRs are medication reconciliation and clinical/visit summary. The first objective is clinical/visit summary. As an APN nurse, it is important that patients are also involved in their recovery journey. Providing and briefing patients with their health information empowers them to take part in their recovery journey (Colorafi et al., 2018). This objective will be impactful as it will help build on a therapeutic relationship with patients and their families which is very important in recovery. The second objective of medical reconciliation involves analysis and management of a patient medication regimen. This objective is important in my APN nurse role as it will help reduce and prevent adverse health outcomes. This is because, the objective facilitates the storage and retrieval of accurate medication information thus preventing omission, error and duplication of medication. Summary

In summary, the adoption and implementation of EHRs is associated with several benefits including enhanced quality and safety of patient care, improved workflows, efficiencies and organizational performance. However, its also associated with certain drawbacks including privacy concerns, disrupted workflows and high costs.
