Clinical Experience Paper

Since the beginning of my clinical 2 experience, I have had the privilege to learn something new on how to become a better nurse and how I can maintain certain goals by following procedures, learning from the nurses, patients as well as my colleagues. I have learned that medication research, therapeutic communication, time management and prioritizing are vital in caring for patients. I am genuinely amazed at the whole complexity process of each care and attention required to achieve the intended goal. The fourth week of clinical was very interesting; learning that being a part of and working in a supportive climate is the best way to overcome the stress that comes with various demands of patient care. Increased workload can be overwhelming and brings about stress, fatigue which could cause a decline in productivity. Teamwork helps reduce some of that. It’s entirely up to the nurses to make the environment conducive to work in by simply communicating and documenting any findings and doing so in a timely manner.
I also learned not to take patients outbursts personally, but take it as a learning opportunity, analyze it and find ways in which you can approach this situation in your future career. However, it’s important to take a couple of minutes to calm down if you feel overwhelmed and …show more content…

Knowledge of medication and disease processes are the keys to remedying and maintaining patients comfort. When you know the physiological effects of the medication, it’s easier to intervene in case of any adverse effects occurring. My goal is to research, review and take more steps in knowing my patient medical diagnosis, as well as set a care plan that will ensure capturing the underlining medical issues to better serve my patients. I will continue to study my patient profile, pay detailed and undivided attention to their goal of care, and document on SCM as required in a timely Clinical Experience Paper
