Response: One of the healthcare programs that I am actively engaged in within my practice is the Hospital-Acquired Control Program. The goal of the program is to prevent the infections that the patients acquire during their stay at the facility. Healthcare-associated infections (HIAs) are also referred to as nosocomial infections and refer to the infections that the patients are likely to get while receiving treatment in hospitals and were not present when the patients were admitted (Dewi et al., 2023). Approximately 10-70% of healthcare-acquired infections are preventable, but when they occur, they contribute to significant morbidity and mortality (Ghorbanmovahhed et al., 2023). Response: Nurses play a significant role in the implementation of the hospital-acquired infection control program. Nurses are tasked with the role of educating patients concerning infection control measures and ensuring that the measures are adhered to. The nursing profession serves as a foundation for any quality-related program within a healthcare facility since they are placed to directly monitor and deliver the majority of the healthcare tasks (Kakkar et al., 2021). As nurses, we are engaged in monitoring compliance, undertake audits, and offer ongoing education to ensure that the infection control measures are consistently adhered to. An example of this involvement is the regular in-service training that was carried out to reinforce proper hand hygiene techniques and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

Interviewer: Who are the members of a healthcare team that you believe are most needed to implement a program? Can you explain why?

Response: Implementing a program such as the Hospital Acquired Infection Control Program requires a collaborative approach. The members of interdisciplinary team members required include nurses, physicians, infection control specialists, microbiologists, environmental service staff, and hospital administrators.
