What stands out is the ethical and professional duty of nurses and other medical personnel to protect the life, dignity, health, integrity, right to confidentiality, privacy, and self-determination of humans, whether as patients or research subjects. The nurses in the Third Reich failed in this regard by being complicit in the Holocaust.
