NURS 601 Assignment 1.3 Paraphrasing Practice Student Name Maryville University  NURS601 Professor Aug 2023 Paraphrasing Excerpt Anyone involved in healthcare financing, including patients, regulatory bodies, and providers, increasingly anticipates that providers will adhere to evidence-based practice (EBP). There is a need for more evidence-based treatment for many patients, even though there is a wealth of research to guide clinical practice. Two seminal studies, one from the United States (McGlynn et al., 2003) and one from Australia (Runciman et al., 2012), estimate adherence to clinical practice standards at 55% and 57%, respectively. However, there need to be more population-level figures for healthcare quality. In order to evaluate the provided treatment with nationally recognized standards, both studies examined a random sample of medical records across the country. Nearly 40% of patients either do not receive treatment based on evidence or, even worse, receive treatment that is known to be dangerous or ineffective, according to the studies (McGlynn et al., 2003; Runciman et al., 2012). The difficulty of providing care based on evidence has been the subject of much speculation. There is a growing body of evidence, which is one of the most glaring examples. According to Loannidis et al. (2017), PubMed receives approximately one million new articles every year. In addition to delivering care, healthcare providers must constantly seek out, evaluate, and incorporate new evidence into their practice. The reality is that many doctors’ workplaces do not always support this (Li et al., 2018). To help nurses carry out EBP, multiple models have been created (Titler, 2018). Despite differences in explicit criteria, most of them follow a regular pattern beginning with a clinical problem diagnosis, continuing with evidence synthesis, and concluding with implementation and evaluation (Cullen et al., 2018). The emphasis of EBP models is on systemic evidence integration, as opposed to the clinician-patient level, which is the primary emphasis of evidence-based medicine (Straus, 2018). Among the many evidence-based practice models utilized in the United States, the Iowa Model stands out (Iowa Model Collaborative, 2018). The approach was created twenty-five years ago by nursing faculty and staff at the University of Iowa Hospital (Titler, 2018). Last year, in 2017, the model was heavily revised and reviewed (Iowa Model Collaborative, 2018).  There have been requests for more extensive dissemination and acceptance of evidence-based practice (EBP) models, despite the fact that many of these models have been around for twenty years or more, because their usage varies greatly among organizations and nations (Melnyk, 2017). The primary motivation for doing this study was to learn more about nurses’ experiences with the Iowa Model so that it might be better implemented in other healthcare facilities. Focusing on anything other than its initial objective is common in interpretive descriptive studies (Teodoro, 2018). We widened our focus to include all the factors of the EBP environment as our understanding deepened. References for NURS 601 Assignment 1.3 LIoannidis, J.P., Stuart, M.E., Brownlee, S., Strite, S.A.
