The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been a topic of debate between Republicans and Democrats since its enactment in March 2010. The law’s primary goals are to make insurance available to more people by providing consumers with subsidies, also known as premium tax credits, that lower costs for low-income households. It expands the Medicaid program to cover all adults with low income, and it supports innovative medical care delivery to help lower healthcare costs (ASPA, 2022). The Republican Party opposes the ACA because they do not believe in government involvement in healthcare, many people have to pay higher premiums and rising taxes, and businesses are cutting employee hours to avoid providing free healthcare (Ronald, 2019). To help revise the ACA, Senator Mark Warner announced a bill to amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to reduce healthcare costs and expand healthcare coverage to more Americans.
