Reflections on the Pro-Life Movement and the Religious Right in the Abortion Debate

Following the delivery of the readings from this week, especially that of Davis’s (365-368) article on the Pro-Life Movement and Balmer’s (2) paper on the stance of the religious right on the national abortion debate, I am challenged to think through a thoughtful perspective in the matter of the national abortion debate. It provides an opportunity for a critical assessment of the world of interactions among religion, politics and social movements concerning abortion in building attitudes in society. Personally, the way I explain it is an approach founded on the interaction of all life’s components, giving more importance to the dignity, well-being, and respect of each, which could lead to solutions preserving rights, treating all human beings as equals, and guaranteeing the lives of everyone.
