I received many spam emails but one of them looked authentic and it was from the bank. I almost replied to that email but then I realized that the email address was not the bank one, I went back to the other bank emails and rechecked and I was right it was a scam and I was able to avoid it.

The video talks about the different cybersecurity threats such as software viruses, distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), and phishing scams. It also talks about different ways attackers can infect a computer. The main methods being luring victims into downloading or installing programs of deception, often disguised as software security updates, and sending spam emails in an attempt to get individuals to share personal information. However, some computers’ security is weak enough that an attacker can gain access without permission. Steps you can take to stay safe online include using strong passwords, checking for authentic web addresses, installing security updates frequently, and not installing programs and software that you don’t trust.

I haven’t ever come into contact with an actual virus on my computer. However, I have gotten many spam emails for phishing scams. Typically, those types of emails go to my spam folder, but occasionally some make it to my inbox. When that happens, I know it’s spam because I have no connection to the sender. Often, the emails mention a company that I have no affiliation with. When I’m aware of what accounts or software I need to update helps to filter spam. In addition, I generally don’t receive emails telling me I need to update a program. Updates show up on the actual program or app. If I receive an email telling me to update or sign in, I double check by going to the program. I also never click on any links in suspicious emails.
